Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University

From its founding in 1919 with four established faculties: Law, Medicine, Science and Arts, to the wake of the Velvet Revolution of 1989, the Masaryk University symbolises freedom and independence.

Since the 1990s, the large extension plan has transformed the University into a total of ten faculties dedicated to research and is recognised as one of the top 600 universities in the world.

Fostering Knowledge

The Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine (SIMU) is one of the most esteemed simulation centres in Central Europe. All the advanced elements of simulation medical equipment that would be available in an actual hospital are available in their education programme.

With operating theatres, a clinical floor, intensive care units, medical devices and simulators, SIMU gives students and academics the possibility to experience all medical procedures first-hand. From the simplest operations to the most complex ones, SIMU is an ideal place to train without harming patients in clinical practise.

Rewarding Long-Term Collaboration

AiD team a.s. partnered with Knauf Ceiling Solutions (formerly Armstrong Ceiling Solutions) to create this latest addition to the Medicine Campus.

With more than 15 years of collaboration between the architects and Knauf Ceiling Solutions, AiD trusted our experience in achieving the highest standard in metal solutions.

The architects chose the METAL R-H 200 solution with Rd 1522 perforation to create a modern and seamless appearance that was also easy to maintain.

The Rd 3139 perforation was also specified on METAL MicroLook 8 ceiling tiles to aid good ventilation and to match other ceiling elements.

To complement the ceiling design, PERLA* and PERLA OP 0.95* were selected for ease of linear lighting integration.

(*PERLA and PERLA OP 0.95 are not available in our 11 divested markets: Austria, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom).

Challenging Times

No projects were left unaffected by the global pandemic. And the Faculty of Medicine extension was no exception! With COVID-19 restrictions, the project timeline was at risk due to the delay in delivering some products.

However, we managed to solve this problem with the support of everyone at Knauf Ceiling Solutions: supply chain, logistics and sales. This project confirmed our lead in technical expertise and tailor-made metal solutions.
