HERADESIGN® now Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold

Knauf Ceiling Solutions has received one of the most important sustainability awards in the construction industry for the white and nature coloured wood wool acoustic panels HERADESIGN® Fine, Superfine, Micro and Plano: Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold.

This is a new milestone in the creation, production and sales of environmentally sustainable products, matching the increasing demand from our customers.

A circular economy mindset

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold follows the 2020 Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) from the German "Institut Bauen und Umwelt e. V." (IBU), including the recalcination process put in place in our Ferndorf plant.

Our environmental innovations and continuous product and process improvements were further solid arguments for the independent certification authority EPEA Switzerland GmbH to award our commitment in setting up a successful greener production line, selecting better sourced raw materials and a circular economy mindset.

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold strengthens our position in future markets, where sustainability becomes more and more essential.

What does the Cradle to Cradle® Products Program stand for?

The Cradle to Cradle® Products Program evaluates the sustainability performance of products across their entire lifecycle. This certification leads designers and manufacturers on a transformative pathway for designing and making products impacting people and the planet positively.

To receive certification, the Cradle to Cradle® Products Program assesses products for environmental and social performance across five critical sustainability categories: material health, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.
